Created to transform everyday mobility with an exciting and uplifting small car experience, the Super-N promises to transcend convention for a compact EV with dynamic performance and unique driving technology that embodies Honda’s commitment to the ‘joy of driving’.
Following the company’s ‘Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum’ (M/M) development approach, the vehicle has been engineered to ensure its technology and design serves the needs of the driver and passengers. With entertaining handling and dynamics, an eye-catching exterior, and an infectious sense of fun, Honda’s latest model is set to redefine what is possible for a small EV.
Engineered on the lightweight platform of the advanced N Series ‘Kei’ car range sold in Japan, the Super-N takes its inspiration from the legendary 1980’s City Turbo II. With a striking exterior design that is typified by its distinctive wide stance, larger bumpers and eye-catching aero ducts, that creates anticipation for a dynamic driving performance.
It will be available in the UK from July with a starting price of sub £20,000
Michael Doyle, Head of Automobile, Honda UK, said: “The Super-N promises to bring Honda’s ‘Joy of Driving’ and the thrill of EV performance to a whole new audience. With its iconic looks, driving dynamics tailored to UK roads, and unique features such as BOOST Mode, every aspect of this model has been engineered to bring exhilaration and fun to every journey, no matter how short. Yet despite its focus on driver excitement, it retains all the traditional Honda values of practicality, efficiency and everyday ease-of-use, alongside an all-electric range that is ideally suited to urban driving or the average daily commute.”
Key to the car’s thrilling driving experience will be ‘BOOST Mode’, which will increase the power output of its compact e-Axle from 47kW to 70kW to fully unleash its performance potential. Plus, as one of the lightest EVs in Europe, the low weight of the Super-N contributes to enjoyable and engaging driving dynamics.
Combined with a unique simulated seven-speed transmission and an Active Sound Control system that generates an engaging engine sound, it will deliver the instant response of an EV with the strong emotional connection of driving a combustion engine vehicle.
Honda’s engineers have also worked tirelessly on the calibration, undertaking extensive testing on various road surface conditions in Japan and the UK to further enhance its driving performance. And with a city-mode driving range of 199 miles and a combined range of 128 miles, the Super-N will offer the freedom to enjoy the daily commute and exciting adventures outside of the city.
Featuring truly captivating styling that draws inspiration from the legendary Turbo City II, Honda engineers have created a one-of-a-kind vehicle. One that generates the Japanese feeling of ‘yukai’ (pleasing) when you see it, ‘meikai’ (intuitive) and the anticipation of ‘tsukai’ (thrilling) before you get behind the wheel, meaning the Super-N promises Honda driving fun in a compact EV package.
Inside, it features enhanced seats that have been carefully designed for greater support and comfort. The interior also benefits from distinctive blue highlights that pay homage to the original City Turbo II, while ambient lighting bathes the dashboard in a cool blue light at night, changing to a rich purple when BOOST Mode is selected.
Super-N customers will be able to choose from a wide range of exterior colours and customisation options, each created to create that personal touch. This will include the availability of a two-tone specification that includes a contrasting gloss black finish for the roof panel and rear spoiler, plus a number of distinctive body graphics.
